Here's your opportunity to enhance your career while making a difference in the lives of youth and in the world.

AmeriCorps is a national community service program that allows Americans, age 18+, to give back to their communities for one year. AmeriCorps members at Girl Scouts of Southeastern New England (GSSNE) will focus on providing programming to youth members and helping grow our organization.

At GSSNE, you will coordinate programs and run short-term troops that engage youth in social and emotional skill development activities that increase their confidence and help them gain positive values, life skills, have healthy relationships, and seek challenges. This could include fun activities like earning badges, selling cookies, exploring science, getting outdoors, and doing community service projects—all part of the Girl Scout Leadership Experience. The Girl Scout program serves girls and gender-expansive youth in grades K-12.

When youth participate in Girl Scouts, they benefit in 5 important ways:

  1. They develop a strong sense of self.
  2. They display positive values.
  3. They seek challenges and learn from setbacks.
  4. They form and maintain healthy relationships.
  5. They learn to identify and solve problems in their community.

In addition to working directly with youth, you will also help promote Girl Scout enrollment by coordinating and attending recruitment events, school assemblies, PTO meetings, or parent meetings.

AmeriCorps members will gain marketable professional experience and will be given professional development opportunities throughout the year both online and in person. If you are a college student, substitute teacher or paraprofessional, this is the perfect position for you!

  • U.S. citizen or legal permanent resident and authorized to work in the U.S.
  • Age 18+
  • Be willing to mentor ages 5-18
  • Ability to work closely with a team and other adults

What is AmeriCorps?
