Girl Scouts of Southeastern New England seeks Members to serve as National Delegates for the 2025-2028 three-year term!
What is a National Delegate?
National Delegates are elected representatives of Girl Scout councils who serve as voting members at the Girl Scouts of the USA's (GSUSA) National Council Session (NCS). They are responsible for:
- Gathering feedback: Engaging with Girl Scout members in their council to learn their opinions
- Voting on proposals: Debating and voting on issues that affect the Girl Scout Movement
- Sharing information: Reporting back to their council on what was discussed and decided at the NCS
- Electing leaders: Voting for national leaders for the next three years
Responsibilities of National Delegates include:
- Attending the NCS and any related trainings and meetings
- Studying proposals and the workbook in advance of the NCS
- Participating in discussions about topics on the NCS agenda
- Listening to the GSUSA's stewardship report and speeches from the GSUSA CEO and Board chair
- Reporting on NCS decisions and actions taken by the National Council to their council's membership
- Assisting their council in preparing for the next NCS
National Delegates receive support from their council, including:
- A Council Delegate Liaison
- Access to the National Delegate website portal
- Training and education, including on-demand webinars
The NCS is part of the GSUSA's national convention, which also includes a member-focused event with workshops, speakers, and adventures. The next national convention is July 20–25, 2026 in Washington, DC.
Girl Scout Delegates Requirements:
- National Delegates must be active Girl Scout Members
- Able to serve for a full three-year term
- Must be at least 14 years old to apply
- Passionate about Girl Scouts, GSSNE, and interested in governance and policy
