The GSSNE Adult Learning Department is looking to welcome additional council trainers (GSSNE adult volunteers trained to train other volunteers in specific content areas). All positions are appointed by council and require successful completion of GSSNE’s Trainer Training.
Advanced Trips Trainer
Who’s good for this role:
Someone who LOVES and has domestic or international Girl Scout Troop travel experience
What they do:
Train volunteers to take their Girl Scouts on extended trips domestically or internationally
Commitment:
Training: 3 hours
Facilitate one evening class per year: 3 hours + 1 hour of prep time
Troop Leader Mentors
Who’s good for this role:
Volunteers who understand troop leadership at any level or who understand new leaders needs and successes
What they do:
Support troop leaders by answering questions, identifying resources, and giving them tips and advice that keeps them on track for a successful year
Commitment:
Training: 2 hours
Participate in two 1-hour troop leader drop-in sessions (virtually or in-person) when you’ll provide input/support to leaders who attend; participate in (2) check-ins with new leaders via phone or email;
be available throughout the year via email for leaders who have questions
ASHI Site Instructor
Who’s good for this role:
Nurses, doctors, EMTs, or anyone in the medical field who hold a current
FA/CPR/AED certification
What they do:
Serve as GSSNE’s master trainer for First Aid/CPR/AED; work with GSSNE
training manager to ensure trainers understand universal guidelines and
are up to date on their skills; offer medical insight into protocols. GSSNE serves as the ASHI administrator
Commitment:
Training: TBD – learning the ASHI online system and materials
Facilitate a minimum of (1) 3-hour ASHI FA/CPR/AED certification class per year, facilitate (1) 1.5-hour re-certification class per year; lead a 2-hour
instructor refresher course once per year. Receives a stipend for facilitating FA/CPR/AED certification classes to students
ASHI First Aid/CPR/AED Trainers
Who’s good for this role:
Volunteers who appreciate health and safety guidelines, can communicate in a clear and effective manner, can stay current on all safety guidelines. Must be FA/CPR/AED certified.
What they do:
Deliver FA/CPR/AED national certification training following the
American Safety Health Institute guidelines
Commitment:
ASHI online training: 3 hours
Practicum training: 3 hours
Facilitate a minimum of (1) 3-hour certification class or (1) 1.5-hour re-certification class per year. Receives a stipend for facilitating.
ASHI Babysitting Certification Trainers
Who’s good for this role:
Volunteers who appreciate health and safety guidelines, enjoy delivering
program to girls, can communicate in a clear and effective manner, can stay current on all safety and curriculum guidelines.
What they do:
Deliver Babysitting certification training to Girl Scout youth following the
American Safety Health Institute guidelines
Commitment:
Practicum training: 6 hours
Facilitate a minimum of (1) 4-6 hour certification class per year. Must be FA/CPR/AED certified. Receives a stipend for facilitating.
