As a volunteer organization, Girl Scouts of Southeastern New England has a volunteer Board of Directors composed of community leaders and professionals. The combined expertise of these community members provides leadership to the council by establishing the policies and bylaws that guide us.
These governance volunteers have the responsibility of strategic planning, fund development, financial oversight, appointment of the Chief Executive Officer (CEO), and are Girl Scout ambassadors to our council. They are chosen by the Board Development Committee and elected by the voting members of the council each year at our Annual Meeting.
For the 2025-2027 term, GSSNE is looking to fill two (2) Board of Directors positions. We are looking for people who are leaders in the following areas:
Based on GSSNE’s mission and strategy for serving all girls and gender-expansive youth, especially those that have been historically marginalized by the Movement, LGBTQ, and BIPOC leaders are strongly encouraged. Applicants should be located within GSSNE's council jurisdiction, which includes all of Rhode Island; Pawcatuck, CT; and 13 communities in Massachusetts: Bellingham, Blackstone, Attleboro, Fall River, North Attleboro, Plainville, Somerset, Swansea, Westport, Wrentham, Millville, Rehoboth, and Seekonk.
Individuals may nominate themselves or nominate someone they know who they think would be a good fit for GSSNE's Board.
